Bangalore - The Capital of Splendor

Bangalore is among the most developed cities in India. Situated in the southern part of the state, Bangalore is the capital city of Karnataka. The city is at a height of around 3113 feet above sea level. The city with many exquisite gardens and parks has acquired the name 'Garden City'. Attractions - Reflection of Perfection

The historical city of Tipu Sultan, Bangalore main attractions lies in its monumental heritage. Along from Cubbon Park, all other places of interest are historica buildings that have been a part of Bangalore for long. The main tourist places are all located quite close to the city center, making it quite simple for a traveler to cover all the attraction without much of hassles.

Bangalore Palace

Built in the year 1887, Bangalore Palace holds a huge similarity to Windsor Castle in England. Built by Chamaraja Wodeyar, majority of the palace is built of wood. The lavish and elegant interiors of the palace never fail to mesmerize its onlookers. It was once covered with some exquisite gardens that are no more there. The Palace is now a days used as a venue for high society parties, weddings, and music concerts. Bangalore Palace has also become a famous spot for shooting as well.

Vidhana Soudha

Vidhana Soudha is one of the most stunning structures that are there in Bangalore and the best example of neo Dravidian architecture. The building serves as seat of the state legislature of Karnataka. The building was completed in the year 1956. Shri Kengal Hanumanthaiah, the then chief minister of Mysore came up with the concept of Vidhana Soudha. It is said that he traveled to many countries and got the idea for its construction. The central dome is crowned by huge figure of Indian National Emblem. The workers who built the structure were mostly prisoners. They were set free after they completed the building.

Cubbon Park

Cubbon Park is one of the most important attractions in Bangalore. Set up in 1864 by Richard Sankey, Cubbon park covers an area of 334 acres. The park is named after the longest serving Commissioner of Bangalore, Sir Mark Cubbon. The park is full of green lawns, colorful flowers and shady trees. You will see a lot of people coming here for their morning walks and jogs. There are many statues and historical buildings inside the park that make the park a must visit. Seshadri Memorial hall, Attara Kacheri and Venkatappa art gallery are the most important of all.

Tipu Sultan's Fort

The storied structure built of teakwood is situated in the busiest marketplace in Bangalore. Tipu Sultan's fort was built in the period 1789-1790. The main attraction inside the fort is a temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha. The temple shows respect that Tipu Sultan had towards other religions. Covering as area of 400 acres, the fort was used as a secretariat by the British after the death of Tipu Sultan. The numerous carved pillars in the fort will leave you mesmerized. There is an art gallery as well that showcases many photos and paintings of Kings and Viceroys. Apart from Sundays, the fort is open to public on all days. The timings of the fort are 10 AM to 6 PM.


Climate
The climate of Bangalore is moderate and pleasant for most of the year. Summers are mild (April-June) and winters are cool (October-February). The city experiences southwestern monsoon rains from June to August.

By Air

Bangalore has its own airport that cater to both domestic as well as international flights. Situated just 6 km from the city center, one can easily commute to the airport from any part of the city. Bangalore is well connected to all major cities of India.

By Rail

Bangalore has two stations, Bangalore City and Bangalore Cantt. Major one is Bangalore City which is where all the major trains from entire India stops and originates. Trains from Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai are offer regular services.

By Road

Bangalore is connected to all parts of Karnataka by a network of good roads. The bus service as well is great, to and from all important and not so important towns in the state.
